JR Kerr

Living in the tension between pastor and social entrepreneur, husband, father and societal commentator, local advocate and international advisor, JR Kerr is man who does not want to waste a breath of his life.

His primary professional roles are as a Teaching Pastor at Park Community Church in Chicago and as the co-founder of Aitreni Group, a hands-on consultancy which serves change agents. Park is a growing church in the Cabrini neighborhood of Chicago’s near North Side, reaching young professionals with the Gospel and living it out among those in need.

The Aitreni Group serves as a liaison, connecting resources with influencers to impact humanitarian work and extend justice in the United States and around the world. Aitreni comes alongside innovative kingdom leaders as well as leaders of movements of change to serve them and catalyze their efforts to influence for the common good.

In addition, JR speaks at churches, conferences, and corporate leadership events around the country, focusing on influence, culture, and calling. He is a featured blogger for the Q Ideas network and a weekly commentator on Moody Radio. His articles have been published in Leadership Journal and Christianity Today, and he is at work on his first book, which traces the history of influence in society to help envision this generation of leaders’ calling and influence.

He serves as a board member, advisor, and senior fellow for numerous non-profits, including the international Lausaunne Conference and the Wedgewood Circle. He serves as a special assistant to the President Joint Aid Management in South Africa while at the same time leading alongside leaders in the church in the States as part of the Origins Movement to restore the church to its original intent.

JR earned his bachelor’s degree from Taylor University, a master’s degree in Communication and Cultural Engagement from Trinity International University, and a master’s of divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He has taught courses at his alma mater, Geneva College, and Anderson University.

JR and his wife, Rachel, have two daughters, Madeline and Claire. The Kerr family loves living in Chicago, enjoying the Lake, the Cubs, and their dog Fernie, who has a slightly better chance of winning the World Series than do the Cubs.
