The College Transition Seminar is designed for college bound high school students, their parents, and youth pastors, addressing the transition from high school to college. This multimedia seminar is engaging, interactive, and challenges teenagers and parents to think deeply about four crucial questions to ask before entering college:

1. Why am I going to college?

2. Who am I?

3. What do I believe?

4. With whom will I surround myself?

Designed to focus on the unique pressures and influences students face in higher education, this seminar will help students, parents, and youth pastors better understand and prepare to face these pressures and challenges from a distinctively Christian perspective. Hope and encouragement are offered to participants by challenging and equipping them to respond with solid and practical tools.

As this seminar is interwoven with the Jubilee Conference, the event will include an interactive dinner with college students to discuss their experience of the high school to college transition. The evening will conclude with participants joining nearly 2000 college students for the Saturday evening plenary session.

Derek Melleby is the Director of the College Transition Initiative, a ministry of the Center for Parent/Youth Understanding and the Coalition for Christian Outreach. He is the author of Make College Count: A Faithful Guide to Life and Learning and co-author of The Outrageous Idea of Academic Faithfulness. His seminars have been presented across the country to students, parents, educators and pastors.

“This seminar raises the bar on the college preparation process. You will hear some things that you won’t hear anywhere else. It’s a different kind of college preparation. My daughter (HS senior) said it was the ‘best’ large group presentation she has seen at our church. Most relevant.”
—Pam Stroup, Director of Parent Ministries, McLean Bible Church, McLean, VA

“The College Transition Seminar is the best seminar I’ve experienced for preparing students for the challenges they will face during college life. The presentation was excellent, true, and relevant for today’s world. Every student needs this seminar.”
—Troy De Bruin, Youth Pastor, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Lancaster, PA

An e-mail will be sent to all registrants with pertinent registration, parking and room details.
